171st G-View: Yuru Yuri ♪♪

Salutations Haunters of the night. It’s time for another G-View. The lighthearted lesbian club returns for more action, adventure and drama all taking place in the confines of a fangirl with glasses’ mind. This is Yuru Yuri season 2.

Here’s the season 1 review.

130th G-View: Yuru Yuri

Genres: comedy, slice of life

Themes: school life, yuri

Number of episodes: 12

G-Rating: 8/10

Plot Summary: A mini-goddess is born and blesses the land of blossoming girls seeking the embrace of one another. Two tsundere lovers in denial struggle against many boundaries to remember the bond beyond reality they share, and the dark lord makes its presence known.

The anime universe needs more deities like her.

This season had one theme and that was: “Hey,last season was mostly about TOSHINO KYOUKO, (Not really but bare with me) Ayano and the main three, right? This time, let’s give the secondary characters the spotlight, especially a certain booby monster and her brain dead “rival”…oh, and let’s also remind the fans who the REAL main character is. I assume that’s how the script meeting went down.

Tsundere lovers in denial. Get used to seeing a lot from these two and LOVE IT!

The animation and music are identical to the 1st season. I will say the 1st season’s OP is still the best song in the series.

Aside from who got the spotlight this season, not much else has changed. The girls visit the same locations as last time and some jokes are recycled but still feel fresh, regardless. The enjoyment of this season depends on what it is viewers wanted to see more, or less of. One thing is for sure, if you liked the 1st season and wanted to see more from the secondary characters, this season will more than satiate your thirst for boob monsters and brain dead sidekicks becoming closer and closer…and super special appearances that should not be ignored.

I apologize for not having much to say this time, but this is one of those “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” type of comedies. There isn’t much I can add that I haven’t already said in my review of the previous season. There are, however, more heartwarming moments this time.

What did you think of Akari giving us a glimpse of her True Form, in Ep. 12?

I was mesmerized and unworthy of seeing her transformation into a supreme deity. When she faced off against the Chinabot, my heart raised and I cheered loudly for the REAL MAIN CHARACTER! In short, your thesis on Akari being Madoka’s reincarnation may not be far off.

  2. ArcaJ says:

Also, I loved the focus on the 1st year students, and side charcters. We got to meet Tomoko, Akane and Nadeshiko (or the Lesbian Onee-san Trio). Plus, we found out that Akarin is totally fine with loving other girls (after the “incidents” last season, I was worried about her).

Akane wasn’t a horrible molester (puts away torch and pitchfork). She’s a good big sister who’s just a little (?) obsessed.

I just hope that the success of the series brings more Yuri Hime titles to TV.

For now we can only dream of another Yuri Hime series being picked up. Better yet, a Fujieda series, especially one that’s based on a certain prestigious award.

I would still like to meet Nadeshiko’s girlfriend and see more from Tomoko.

Akane’s debut had been anticipated for a year and she delivered. I’ll now proceed to watch episode 7 again.

Akarin has achieved godhood. All nation members will apply for the mini-goddess of yuri fanclub…if there is one.

  3. MAR-KLAC-VELOUS says:

don’t worry there might s3 or ova series on the way who knows akarin’s finally get spotlight?

at least good news we get akarin’s sister indeed the YURI-cension has finally rise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLnzwuvUjyo&feature=related mu ha ha ha.

What a great series! I will surely miss what’s her name again protagonist XD

  5. blazerj says:

I love the series specially Chitose´s fantasies about ayano and kyouko .I never expect a kiss between kyouko and yui I hope the 3 season.

  6. SilverFox says:

This is one of my favorite series. Seeing the older sisters and getting to see more of the secondary characters was a treat, especially a certain tsundere couple. The one thing I wish there could have been more development on is the relationship between Dr. Boom and the Pres. Here’s hoping to a 3rd season!

  7. Sure feels like forever since I last watched an anime….Sigh

On a sadder note, I still couldn’t get into Yuru Yuri. seriously, I think I need a Doctor for that condition!

I mean it has all the qualities that I like in anime and yet…and yet…

    Sigh

At least you enjoyed it though, there is that ^^

    • Overlord-G says:

I recommend you stick to Live-Action and quit watching anime since it looks like you’re needlessly struggling. Also, don’t sigh near my presence. Typing the word sigh pisses me off. Actually typing an expression of any kind pisses me off.

Anyway, just quit if watching anime has become a chore.

    • Overlord-G says:

Tis a shame you have to leave the animeverse but being forced to watch something isn’t any fun. If I sound mean, I apologize. That wasn’t my intention. I’ve seen this before, you see. Just trying to help.

I trust your loyalty to the nation will remain intact as you continue reporting valuable yuri sightings in live-action shows.

  8. Stevie Nix says:

I really hope it becomes a yearly thing for new seasons of Yuru Yuri like Hidamari Sketch. I really want more SakuHima!

Also I will say this again, there needs to be an OVA of Kyouko talking/dragging Ayano to Winter Comuket. I still really feel bad for her not getting to go.

    • Overlord-G says:

More tsundere lovers in denial is always a good thing, along with Student/Teacher antics.

I’m more into seeing a Gaccha Yuri OVA. Tomoko needs some loving her tsuteki onee-sama.
