You know, instead of going through each show one by one and talk about them in depth, I’ll just discuss as many as I can in short length and tell you which ones I’ll be going more in depth this Summer.
La Famiglia Arcana: I’m by no means an Otome/Reverse harem gamer for obvious reasons. However, I am so sick and tired of regular harem shows that I decided to finally bury the hatchet and watch an Otome show. Besides, the otaku mainstream seems to see potential in this one. Me? It’s just an Otome game with a fighting game storyline. I mean c’mon! A tournament where the winner becomes the new Godfather, and there’s a secret agenda? That’s the plot of almost every fighting game known to man. So no, I’m not as excited as others for this show…BUT, it doesn’t look that bad so far. Like every other action themed harem, right now we’re in the filler period so I’ll pass better judgment or pick favorites when the tournament begins and the secret agenda is revealed. Also, 9 guys? Isn’t that stretching it a little?
Verdict: I’ll watch but not discuss till its G-View.
jinrui wa suitai shimashita: I love random insanity and lots of gibberish dialogue. When you combine the two, you get a recipe for instant greatness in my eyes. I mean the 2nd episode’s main antagonists are super intelligent skinned chickens that plan on taking over the world, all the while the factory manager plans on taking all the credit after our heroine solves the case and foils the evil chickens. Man, I haven’t seen a living skinned chicken since “The Return of the Chicken From Outer Space”. If you know where this is from without Googling it (which I doubt is any of my Haunters), you are a 90′s kid. Oh, and there’s a mute assistant who has a dark outlook on life and robotic bread that bleeds. Suffice to say, I LOVE THIS SHOW! Did I also mention that if you’re an innocent bystander in this post apocalyptic grassland, you’re screwed?
Verdict: I’ll discuss it from episode 3 and onwards.
Joshiraku: The show describes itself as a show about 5 girls talking about random mundane stuff so you can notice how cute they are. Once again, a show with cute girls and random gibberish. I’m sold. You know, I’m surprised Shaft didn’t pick up either this show or “Jenny and The Wacko Fairy Factory”. Both have vintage Shaft material. I guess they’re too busy planning to milk the Gatari series for everything it’s worth. Joy…
Verdict: G-View only.
Natsuyuki Rendezvous: I wanted a good hetero romance that isn’t made by either KEY or Kyoto Animation and this one definitely looks like it’ll fill that demand. I should really explain in depth why this one will be discussed from now on but for now think of it as “Ghost”, except the ghost himself isn’t the guy we’re supposed to be cheering for.
Verdict: Will discuss.
Moyashimon Returns:
While I do want more of this, I shouldn’t get my hopes up. HOWEVER, that isn’t the main reason I like this show. It’s an educational chemistry show with some focus on alcohol among other synthesizing concoctions, plus the bacteria are cute. I also want to see more of these two
Verdict: Undecided. By the way, I strongly recommend NOT picking up the 2nd season if you haven’t seen the 1st one yet.
Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga iru and Kokoro Connect: If any of my Haunters can find potential yuri couples from these shows that are worthy of entering the 2nd annual OG yuri Awards, let me know. Otherwise, I’m not wasting my time with either.
Oda Nobuna no Yabou: Huh? is the Kohime Musou anime FINALLY getting a 4th season, or is it the 2nd season of Battle Girls: Time Paradox? Yes and no. Yes, because it’s the same concept No, because it stars a boy. Call me when a sequel of the aforementioned shows air and then we’ll talk.
As for Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II and Rinne no Lagrange II, do I really need to reveal my verdicts? REALLY!?
Natsuyuki Rendezvous seems interesting from the way you say it, I’ll give it a try. SInce I’ll only be following a few shows again, I picked just three to follow on a weekly basis – SAO, Kokoro Connect, and Aruvu Rezuru: Kikai (haven’t seen the latter two though.) What do you recommend OG?
Kokoro Connect I already said I’m not interested in. That online game based anime and the 3rd show, I dunno nor care to watch either. Maybe you should ask someone more in line with the otaku mainstream because I am SO not in their wavelength.
