Last week, Toki the Psychonaut was preparing to go against her Ryyuka’s wishes and use Super Psycho Vision, allowing her to see two turns ahead of time, but with a heavy cost to her life force. Did it pay off? Let’s find out.
Yes it did for after a couple of Pons from “Marvelous” Granny Hall, Toki managed to get a Tsumo worth 23,00 and 4000.(I still don’t understand the rules of mahjong and frankly it doesn’t matter for the moment.). However, like Granny’s lucky shot in the 1st part, that was the only successful attack against the STILL dominant Teru, who once again starts slow and quickly racks up the intensity of her blows with each attack.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after watching Saki, is that “extreme mahjong wrestlers” need three things to go over with the fans: 1) a likable personality/gimmick. 2) lots of screen time. 3) and the most important, A FLASHBACK! As you can guess from this banter of mine, Granny Hall got a flashback this week. We learn the reason why she’s “thrown into the lion’s den” so to speak, was because the Marvelous Puppies’ team captain told the vice-captain how sick she was of seeing her team’s aces get taken down every Mahjongmania they entered, so she decided to reverse orders this year by having the weakest member go in first against the World Champion. In short, Granny is the sacrificial lamb. However, there’s another reason, Granny has never in her life, tapped out (or Busted as they say.). Granny overheard their conversation but is very happy for simply being useful to the team.
As you can tell from the bottom picture, after two Super Psycho Visions, Toki’s life force drained from 7000 to 256, meaning that her happy time flashbacks are all that’s keeping her from losing consciousness.
Next week, Toki’s do or die moment as she goes past her limit with ULTIMATE PSYCHO VISION! Guess how many turns ahead she could see if it succeeds? Ryuuka’s not pleased in the slightest with Toki’s decision.
P.S.: In the Saki side story, Saki, Nodoka and Taco make it to the arena but of course missing the 1st train put them behind schedule. Anyway, Saki could already sense her sister’s monstrous power from outside and doesn’t feel 100% ready to confront Teru, even via a monitor, yet. Nodoka, being her lover, of course notices that there’s something troubling Saki and it isn’t a potty break.
