Just wanted to share my thoughts on being entered in the Aniblog Tourney. This is a serious post, so no pictures.
So I stopped by the Aniblog tourney site today to check out how I did. Suffice to say I lost. 48 votes against Bokutachi no Blog‘s 171 votes. Hey, no hard feelings. I was up against a 4 year veteran so of course my chances of winning were already slim.
First of all I’d like to congratulate my opponent on a job well done. He’s had enough experience to run his blog well and deliver every time.
Secondly, I’d like to thank my fans, followers, spammers and the like for dropping by the site and occasionally daring to give their opinions on stuff. It’s thanks to all of you I have, as of this writing, 191,254 views all-time. Thank you all for actually caring about what I have to say. It makes it all worthwhile.
Now then, on to business. While checking out the comments I noticed some very insightful criticisms on my blog’s layout and the way I write and I’d like to address two of these.
-The background and choice in color schemes: One of the main criticisms I received was my wacky backgrounds being overwhelming, giving my blog a crowded feeling. I understand. I was only trying to make my blog colorful and fill it with anime characters to express my joy but it looks like visitors prefer a more plain welcome mat. The background you now see after this post is finished will be my permanent one from now on…unless the critics don’t like stars either which I’ll then replace a whiteboard. If not, the stars stay.
Writing style: Another complaint I received was on the way I write posts. Some said I needed to express more of my own thoughts on anime episodes I cover, which I’m slowly working on as some have noticed by now. As for those who don’t like my style at all, listen up. You see, this is how I’ve been writing for years, way before I started a blog. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I don’t know how to be serious outside of a classroom. I am an animeniac first and foremost. When I’m filled with joy, I can’t contain my happiness or joygasmic moments. I’m not philosophical, I’m not someone who fills teaches people about art, I don’t have much of a fashion sense or have a degree in sex-ed, I don’t cuss with style, I don’t write opinions “because I don’t give a damn what others think”, I’m not horny enough to cater to the otaku mainstream, I don’t know much about the aniblogosphere works, I don’t live in a region where anime figurines are sold and I’m not planning on getting a credit card anytime soon. I’m just an anime fan who expresses his opinions on stuff and does his best to promote the greatness that is yuri. Yuri is superb.
To further elaborate what I’m trying to say, let’s compare wrestling promos.
Though I like Lance Storm (Very good ex wrestler) his no nonsense promos aren’t my style.
My style is somewhat similar to the Macho Man’s…not so much Queen Sherri’s or Zeus’. I’m not that loose…though I wouldn’t mind hanging out with such lunatics.
See, I write what’s on my mind and it’s usually happy thoughts…except when I’m talking about a harem anime, then the chances of me being angry are 95%. So once again, if you don’t like the way I write, tough. This is who I am and I’m not going to change anytime soon…that is unless the future Mrs. Gomez (I have a Facebook and Skype ladies!) tells me otherwise. Until that happens, what you see is what you get.
The amount of pictures I upload: I’ll try to cut down but I won’t make any promises. It all depends on my mood and what I want to say about the episode I’m discussing. If I’m happy or I need pictures to explain something, I’ll post as many as possible. If I have little to say, I won’t post as many. Simple as that.
Well then, that’s it. If anyone else has more suggestions/complaints to share, I’m all ears. I’ll work harder to improve the blog’s accessibility and content as the years go by. As long as there are readers and time permits it, I’ll keep on posting.
Until then, This is the OG-Man, fighting for TRUTH, JUSTICE, YURI AND CORN MUFFINS!

Update on my two promised projects:
The Sono Hanabira reviews: They’re coming. Why haven’t I started yet? I need to get back in the mood of reading them again. When will that be? After the English patch of episode 8 is released. Eris and Shizuku are my favorite couple in the series and I want to take my sweet time reading their story. Preparation is needed for me to get into the mood and having their story translated (The 1st part anyway) is what the doctor ordered.
Live Action Lesbian movie reviews: I’m watching some movies and preparing scripts.
Gah. I despaired when I saw the difference in votes the other day. Bokutachi must be REALLY popular… ><
Well, grats for almost 200k views!!
About the background, this new one is nice, relaxing, calming.
But I must admit that I kinda liked your colorful changing previous backgrounds. Of course, that can be because Im a bit weird…
And about your writting style, I like it. You write with the heart!!
And yes, YURI IS SUPERB!! AYYYYYMEEEEEEN to that!! (In Hellsing's Anderson voice =D)
A veteran site against my own. Yes, it was overkill but it also showed me I still have a long way to go. Let’s face it, I’m not as awesome as The Rock, yet.
Some people are either colorblind or don’t like crowded spaces I guess. No biggie, I don’t like crowds that much either.
Thanks for the compliment about my writing.
I like your writing style because it shows how you’re truly enjoying a show or not. It really does. And your posts always, always make me smile.
You know what, do what your heart tells you to. If you think something makes you happy, then do it. If something doesn’t, forget about it. I’m always told and I’ll tell you this – do something only if you know you will enjoy 100%.
Odd. I really need to pay attention to who actually stops by my site. I can never tell sometimes.
Anyway, I’ll keep on writing my way whether people like it or not. There’s no way in patootie I’ll allo my promos to become like Lance Storm’s.
Well, it was a bad seeding, going against Bokutachi at first round was a little…:P
Save your pity dood. I already know you’ll this year’s champ.
I lost fair and square and that’s all there is to it. I just have to accept the fact I still have a long way to go.
I’m going to miss your cute backgrounds, but if this is what you want…
You shouldn’t force change, let it come naturally or just keep your style whether you use less pictures or not.
Yes, I’ll miss them too, but it’s for the greater good and it’ll hopefully pay off in the long run. Besides, it’s only a background change. As for the way I post, hell no I’m not changing it. As long as there are some out there who enjoy what I write, it’s worth it.
I voted for you because I’m enjoying your posts. Like Hoshiko, your posts never fail to make me smile.
I thank you for your support Snippy. It’s because I have friends who I’ve never met in real life, like you, that makes posting worthwhile.
Your post is great. Those who doesn’t vote for you means they don’t really read a lot of your post. I do agree on the amount of images though but other than that it’s just great. Definitely a great style of posting. Truly tells everyone what you reall feel about a certain anime.
I post how I want so if they don’t like it, too bad. Thanks for the support. Again, I’ll TRY to cut down on the pictures.
I feel ya. Just keep doing things the way you want to do them. I don’t think you had too many pictures, but whatever. Your writing style is fun, interesting and unique, that’s what counts. Also, stars are good.
Thanks for the support elder one.
