Jormungand episode 1: A Gunslinger Boy named Johan with a face so funny I can’t help but laugh when they close up to it, a cheerful, yet serious when necessary main protagonist named Koko (Who’s really cute) and then there’s Valmet…ahhhhh, Valmet.
We kick things off with a rocket launch as a poem is being recited.
The series follows Koko Hekmatyar, a young arms dealer who sells weapons under HCLI, an international shipping corporation that secretly deals in the arms trade. As one of the company’s unofficial weapon dealers, she secretly sells weapons in many countries while avoiding the local authorities and law enforcements as most of her work is actually illegal under international law. Traveling with her is her team of bodyguards who are mostly composed of ex-military veterans. Her latest addition to her crew is Jonah, a seemingly emotionless child soldier who is skilled in combat yet ironically hates arms dealers. Jonah joins Koko as he wishes to find the arms dealer responsible for his family’s death. What follows is Koko and her crews escapades around the world.
Yeah, I Wiki’d it but there isn’t much to talk about in the 1st episode. It has to be seen.
Koko herself is an interesting main character. She’s usually happy and energetic to the point of childish, but when push comes to shove…
She can be a very calm, collective player in the underworld who can make anyone wet their pants with her Joker-esque visage.The scariest part, we have yet to see what she can do in combat. She’s already unpredictable enough as it is. Koko Hekmatyar, huh? Her surname’s too hard to remember so I’ll call her The Great White Koko Vanilla instead, or Koko Loco as she’s called in the post-credit preview.
Seriously, she’s THAT white. Maybe this is Menma all grown up.

Next we have Jonah (The Gunslinger Boy as I like to call him). Personally he has a poker face only a mother couldn’t laugh at. I honestly couldn’t hold back my laughter. Anyway he hates weapons yet ironically uses them in order to achieve his goals. Not much to say except…

Of course there are more members on Team Koko who will obviously be given more to do as the show progresses, but there’s only one I have my eyes on and I can bet you all know who it is…

Black hair, well endowed, an eyepatch, devoted to her beloved Koko and…
Bloodthirsty in combat. So yeah, I like her.
The following red text is for yuri fans to read. If you’re not, skip this part and check out the last paragraph. Right, about Valmet. She’s a lesbian who unfortunately has a one-sided crush for Koko, who is oblivious to her feelings. I personally don’t mind this character type as long as it has 3 of the following:
1: She’s adorable/attractive or likable, both, or all 3.
2: Her feelings are genuinely pure and not based solely on lust.
3: Even though the chances of her succeeding are incredibly low (Depending on the script), you want to see her succeed anyway. Sometimes it could be a struggle accepting you’re gay and willing to at least try and confess, or it can simply be difficulty in mustering the courage to confess. There are also examples where your crush knows how you feel, doesn’t take you seriously/denies your love but the woman continues trying till she succeeds.

To sum things up: It had a car chase, Koko shenanigans and illegal negotiations with backstabbing and all. I suspect it’ll be a very nice/balanced milkshake of bloody violence, Gunslinger Boy stuff, a look at illegal arms dealings, each “Team Koko” getting a chance to shine and lots of KokoxValmet.
It’s supposedly confirmed a 2nd season has already been set for October 2012 so hopefully this show will become better and better with a balance in both light and dark elements.
This looks great! I’ll be onboard in no time. And some yuri to boot! Woot!
I don’t know how strong the yuri will be but at least we know there’s a lesbian at least. As for the reast of the show, a solid action series from the looks of it.

& only thing missing is like put face paint on koko with her saying “why so serious?” aka a female joker.
