I don’t know how many gamers in the Western hemisphere have heard of NamcoXCapcom, but 3DS owners may soon be able to play a game that looks similar to the aforementioned Japan only Strategy RPG game as Capcom, Namco and Sega are collaborating to create a crossover themed SJRPG.
Currently operating under the title of Project X Zone (with the X standing for ‘cross’ as with the recent Street Fighter X Tekken game), the game will be a turn based strategy affair that (much like Namco X Capcom) will see mostly pairs of fighters teaming up as units on the battlefield to fight armies of various foes. Images that purport to be early scans of this week’s Weekly Famitsu magazine show a more detailed and non-super-deformed art style being employed (in battle at least) while also revealing what appears to be a combo system of some sorts (again as seen in Namco X Capcom). The following characters are claimed to have been already confirmed with (presumably) more to come:
Confirmed characters:
Capcom
Ryu & Ken Masters (Street Fighter Alpha)
X & Zero (Megaman X)
Demitri Maximoff & Dante (Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry)
Chris Redfield & Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)
Sega
Sakura Shinguji & Ichiro Ogami (Sakura Wars)
Akira Yuki & Pai Chan (Virtua Fighter)
Kurt Irving & Riela Marcellis (Valkyria Chroncles)
Touma & Ulala (Shining Force EXA, Space Channel 5)
Bandai Namco
Sanger Somvoid (Super Robot Wars OG)
Jin Kazama & Lin Xiaoyu (Tekken)
KOS-MOS & T-elos (Xenosaga)
Yuri Lovell & Estelle (Tales of Vesperia)
Kaito & Black Rose (.hack)
Although I did say there’s a possibility the game a Western release, it hasn’t been confirmed yet as little details are available of the game. Still, if Pokemon Conquest got green lit for a Stateside release, why not this game? A trailer will be unveiled sometime this month.
Anyway, I’m assuming the game will look like an enhanced version of NamcoXCapcom, which this trailer will explain how that played for the most part.
This is going to be an interesting crossover. Game play wise this is going to be good but graphic wise kinda of meh.. Looking forward to this.
Maybe Sony should compete as well and make a Mortal Kombat x DC Universe x Soul Calibur
I’ll stick to the long awaited Marvel vs DC crossover. Adding Soul Calibur to the mix wouldn’t make much sense.
then next game SF x tekken x VF x KOF
They already made Capcom vs SNK 2. Basically I already think that joke is old.
well give likely next maybe if want go 5 way fighting with SF x tekken x VF x KOF x DOA.
besides give wii in me asking where is it?
Including DOA? Nah. A Wii-Version would be nice.
Do you people have a twitter fan webpage? I looked for for one on twitter but could not locate one, I would really like to become a fan!
I’m only one person running this blog and I don’t have a Twitter. Also, I just clicked on Dashboard and looked for a cool pic to decorate my site with. That’s all.
Well, I do not know if that is going to work for me, however definitely proved helpful for you!
Excellent post!
One last time. If it’s a WordPress.com site like mine: Go to your dashboard in the upper bar, (it should be up there when you drag your arrow to the upper left of your name), click on Dashboard, then go to appearance, click on background and upload a picture you’d like to decorate your site with.
I tried to submit a comment previously, although it has not shown up. I assume your spam filter may possibly be broken?
